After years of using the capable, yet a bit effort-requiring Drupal, I switched this site to WordPress today. Please comment here with all the problems still showing from the switch.

Update: This migration also allowed me to revive the customizations I made to the Kubrick theme. Luckily, they still work in WordPress 2.7.

I was just searching for some documentation on Java Sockets, and Yahoo! returned the following page: What's nice is that it figured out not only the right page to show (the documentation on Java Sockets, after all) but also was smart enough to provide links to the different versions of the documentation corresponding to the different java versions. Nice, the SearchMonkey effort seems to pay off. Hopefully Python will get the same treatment, too. Continue reading →

Das Konzept des "App Store", das nun immer mehr Konkurrenten kopieren, ist so einfach wie bestechend. Apples Handy-Software folgt dem sogenannten Open-Source-Prinzip: Jeder kann eigene Anwendungen programmieren. Nach einem Qualitätscheck durch das Unternehmen wird die Software dann im Store veröffentlicht und ein Preis definiert. Der Programmierer erhält bei jedem Download 70 Prozent der Erlöse, Apple den Rest.

Quelle: SPIEGEL Online Man kann ja über den App Store von Apple viel sagen. Aber dass er "dem Open-Source-Prinzip" folgen soll sicher nicht. Siehe dazu auch den entsprechenden Eintrag in der Wikipedia die ja auch sonst gerne von SPIEGEL Online zu Rate gezogen wird. Continue reading →
